Explanation
NOTE
〜にして in this sense means is both A and also B — one person or thing holds two qualities at once.
彼は医者にして作家だ。
He is a doctor and also a writer.
NOTE
It is formal and literary. It joins two noun roles that the same subject holds together.
彼女は母にして教師でもある。
She is a mother and also a teacher.
It is often followed by でもある to emphasize the second quality.
NOTE
Attach にして directly to a noun, then state the second noun.
