Explanation
NOTE
〜としたところで means even if — even granting a supposition, the expected result still does not follow.
今謝ったとしたところで、彼は許さないだろう。
Even if I apologize now, he probably will not forgive me.
NOTE
It is formal and often used to reject a hopeful assumption. The result clause states the effort would be useless.
急いだとしたところで、電車には間に合わない。
Even if we hurry, we will not make the train.
The supposition is in past plain form before としたところで.
NOTE
Attach としたところで to a verb in plain form. A noun is also possible directly before it.

Kare ni tanonda to shita tokoro de, kekka wa kawaranai.
Even if I ask him, the result will not change.
今から勉強するとしたところで、試験には受からない。
Ima kara benkyou suru to shita tokoro de, shiken ni wa ukaranai.
Even if I study from now, I will not pass the exam.
彼が来ないとしたところで、会議は進める。
Kare ga konai to shita tokoro de, kaigi wa susumeru.
Even if he does not come, we will proceed with the meeting.
NOTE
〜にしたって is the casual spoken variant. It means even if or even for and is more conversational.
先生にしたって、答えが分からないこともある。
Even a teacher sometimes does not know the answer.
NOTE
Attach にしたって to a noun to mean even for, picking one example to show the point still holds.

Senmonka ni shitatte, kono mondai o toku no wa muzukashii deshou.
Even for an expert, solving this problem would probably be difficult.
明日出発にしたって、準備が全然足りません。
Ashita shuppatsu ni shitatte, junbi ga zenzen tarimasen.
Even if we leave tomorrow, our preparations are completely insufficient.
