NOTE
〜ところを means when or while — it marks a moment or situation during which something else happens.
逃げているところを警察に見つかった。
While I was running away, the police spotted me.
NOTE
It also means in spite of — used in polite apologies and thanks when imposing on a busy person.
お忙しいところをありがとうございます。
Thank you, despite how busy you are.
This set phrase shows consideration for the listener's circumstances.
NOTE
Attach ところを to a verb in plain form. It describes the ongoing scene the main action interrupts.
