Explanation
NOTE

〜が最後 means once... (it's over) — once the first action happens, an unavoidable result follows.

彼かれは寝ねたが最後さいご、昼ひるまで起おきない。
Once he falls asleep, he won't wake up until noon.
NOTE

The result is negative or undesirable, and the speaker cannot stop it. It sounds formal and strong.

この本ほんを読よみ始はじめたが最後さいご、止とまらなくなる。
Once you start reading this book, you can't stop.
The result clause describes an inevitable consequence the speaker has no control over.
NOTE

Attach が最後 to a verb in plain past (た) form. The result clause states the unavoidable outcome.

この本ほんを読よみ始はじめたが最後、最後さいごまで読よまないと気きが済すみません。
Kono hon o yomihajimeta ga saigo, saigo made yomanai to ki ga sumimasen.
