Explanation
NOTE
〜かいがある means worth doing — the effort produced a meaningful, satisfying result.
毎日練習したかいがあって、優勝できた。
Practicing every day was worth it, and I won the championship.
NOTE
It is formal and emotional. It expresses relief that the effort was not wasted.
NOTE
Attach かいがある to a verb in the past form. Take 書く, make 書いた, then add かいがある.
STRUCTURE

Isshoukenmei benkyou shita kai ga atta.
Studying hard was worth it.
遠くまで来たかいがあって、景色は最高だった。
Tooku made kita kai ga atte, keshiki wa saikou datta.

NOTE
〜かいがない means not worth doing — the effort brought no meaningful result.

Attach かいがない to a verb in the past form, just like かいがある.
